Barnett Waddingham has been appointed as the new self-invested personal pensions provider (SIPP) for trading platform Interactive Investor, following a “significant review”.
Barnett Waddingham is developing a digital online SIPP especially for the platform, which will introduce new functionality to the service, intended to give customers easier access to the information they need for their pension provision, Interactive Investor said.
Barnett Waddingham customers can open the new SIPP as of 9 October 2017, while Interactive Investor customers will follow in December.
Interactive Investor chief executive Richard Wilson said: “We have made significant progress towards our ambition to become the retail platform of choice for engaged investors.
“Barnett Waddingham will play an important part in this through the provision of its market-leading SIPP, and we look forward to our customers benefiting from this new service.”
Barnett Waddingham partner Julia Bassett added: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our new digitally-enabled SIPP and are excited to have been selected as the provider and administrator of the product.
“Our experience of developing innovative online solutions for our clients means we are perfectly placed to offer this product for Interactive Investor’s SIPP customers.”
Interactive Investor acquired TD Direct Investing in June, creating the UK’s second largest online broker with assets of £21bn.
