Retirement & Pension Planning Services is the second advice firm linked to the British Steel Pension Scheme saga to have gone into liquidation.
According to a note on The Gazette, the Barnsley-based advice firm went into liquidation on 27 June this year.
The statement said: “That the company be wound up voluntarily and that John Hedger of Seneca IP Limited, Speedwell Mill, Old Coach Road, Tansley DE4 5FY be appointed liquidator of the company.”
Last month, it emerged Retirement & Pension Planning Services had applied to the Financial Conduct Authority to cancel all of its regulatory permissions.
On 13 December 2017, the firm voluntarily suspended its defined benefit pension transfer permissions as a result of advising British Steel workers on transferring out of their final salary scheme.
A note on the Financial Services Register under the firm’s entry showed that, on 22 May this year, it applied to cancel its regulatory authorisation.
Retirement & Pension Planning Services follows in the steps of Active Wealth UK, who voluntarily entered liquidation in February.
